It’s the most common kind of access control system, and is usually used in a residential space in association with automated vehicular security gates. The property owner can enter a passcode on the keypad provided with the system, or push a button on the remote transmitter to open or close the gate. This usual setup can also be installed on a door with a magnetic lock or an electric door strike, but it’s not recommended to install it where higher levels of security are needed, like in an organization.

This kind of access control is helpful in controlling multiple doors or gates. Telephone entry systems have a built in memory that can be remotely programmed with software that accompanies it. Passcodes can be entered on the keypad, secure transmitters, and proximity cards can be utilized, or residents can simply be called (with the help of a directory) to open a door or a security gate. When it comes to high rise office condos or apartment complexes, telephone entry systems are very useful. This kind of entry control system is also designed for home residential use as well. Time and access zone can also be easily programmed into a telephone entry code via software. This will restrict who has access to a certain space, and when they have access to certain area as well.

  1. Multi Door Monitored Access Control Systems:

This type of access control system includes a two door controller, a keypad, a card reader, proximity cards, and FOB’s. To inspect and monitor more than two doors, an expansion pack needs to be bought. This kind of access control system is capable of being on a network, reporting transactions in real time. It can also monitor a person’s movements with an access device or code via the system in real time as well. To limit a person’s access to certain areas of your organization, you can also program the time and access zones down to a certain area at a certain time. Video surveillance systems can be installed in some of the access control systems as well. For instance, an IP camera is linked to the access system of your organization, and an employee has to use his ID badge to enter through the door. At that very moment, the CCTV will click and store a picture of the employee entering the area at that particular time.
